I'm Michael Byrne, an Australian baby boomer who likes to write, take pictures, and research history. Never been a scholar but have post-grad quals in business. I've worked in the USA, Canada, and China.

A conscript, I went to war but I never shot anone and nobody shot me. I've flown front seat in a Huey Cobra and back seat in a Macchi jet. I've hitched-hiked accross the USA, cycled through Germany and Austria, and come face-to-face with a very cross bull elephant. I've conversed with former Australian prime and deputy prime ministers, with  a former Premier of China, and with a US President (before he achieved that Office). You get to meet a lot of famous people when you're a chaffeur.

I've had my life threatened by a Vung Tau pimp, been hung in efergy by ungrateful Canadian unionists, run an electronics company in China, managed the construction of of the RAAF's F/A-18s and the RAN's Seahawks, and climbed a mountain in Kashmir.

Once I was a rooster. Now I'm a feather duster. But, as Uncle Ned once said, Such is Life.
